A resolution recognizing and commending Brian Crabtree, of the Metropolitan Nashville Emergency Communications Center, upon being named the 2005 Calltaker of the Year.

WHEREAS, seldom observed by the public, the Metropolitan Nashville Emergency Communications Center, nevertheless provides an essential service in Davidson County; and

WHEREAS, one such outstanding and dedicated calltaker is Brian Crabtree, who was recently named the 2005 Calltaker of the Year; and

WHEREAS, serving in the Communications Center, he plays a vital role in the handling of both emergency and non-emergency calls; and

WHEREAS, on February 14, 2005, the prompt action, skill and training of 9-1-1 calltaker Brian Crabtree, exhibited compassion as he came to the aid of an 8-month old infant's life by talking his aunt through CPR by telephone; and

WHEREAS, the 8-month old infant had slipped underwater while in a bathtub and stopped breathing; when Mr. Crabtree received the call he talked the child's aunt the life-saving care that was needed to clear the infant's airway, ventilate him and monitor his condition until first responders arrived; and

WHEREAS, thanks to the efforts of Brian Crabtree, the 8-month infant survived this potential tragedy; and

WHEREAS, his handling of this incident resulted in Brian Crabtree being recognized as the 2005 Metropolitan Nashville Emergency Communications Center Calltaker of the Year; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes and commends Brian Crabtree for his efforts in saving the life a of a fellow human being and convey to him their highest respect and admiration.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing and commending Brian Crabtree, of the Metropolitan Nashville Emergency Communications Center upon being named the 2005 Calltaker of the Year.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Brian Crabtree.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
