RESOLUTION NO. RS2006-1387

A resolution recognizing Detective Jeff Ball upon receiving the 2006 Theodore Roosevelt Association Police Award for Nashville and Middle Tennessee.

WHEREAS, Detective Jeff Ball is the ninth recipient of the Theodore Roosevelt Association Police Award; and

WHEREAS, this distinguished award was established by the Theodore Roosevelt Association, and supported by the Dantzler Bond Ansley Foundation, and given to police officers who have displayed unselfish heroism, courage, or other acts of bravery; and

WHEREAS, this award is named for Theodore Roosevelt in recognition of his years as president of the Board of Police Commissioners of New York City (1895-97) and his life-long interest in police work and admiration for police officers; and

WHEREAS, this recognition has been bestowed upon Detective Ball for his outstanding and praise-worthy service to the Metropolitan Police Department, where he returned to his job despite several surgeries and months of rehabilitation after being hit by a taxicab while riding his motorcycle to work; and

WHEREAS, upon returning to his career, Detective Jeff Ball, a 26-year police department veteran, was bound and determined to come back even stronger, perform any job put before him with resolve and move forward in his police career, by working in traffic accident investigation, then moving to robbery investigation before making detective, serving at the Hermitage Precinct; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Detective Jeff Ball for his dedication, performance and perseverance in returning back to his love of police work.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Detective Jeff Ball upon receiving the 2006 Theodore Roosevelt Association Police Award for Nashville and Middle Tennessee.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Detective Jeff Ball.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
