A resolution authorizing the Department of Law to accept $10,150.03 in compromise and settlement of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County's personal injury claim against Vattakkattil Ashokan.

Whereas, on May 16, 2005, Suseela Somarajan, operating a vehicle owned by Vattakkattil Ashokan, pulled into traffic from Sonya Drive and stopped suddenly, causing a collision with a Metropolitan Police Department motorcycle, and injuring the Metropolitan Police Officer; and

Whereas, after investigation, the Metropolitan Department of Law believes that the settlement listed in Section 1 is fair and reasonable and recommends that the Metropolitan Government's claim against Vattakkattil Ashokan be compromised and settled in the amount of $10,150.03 and that these funds be deposited into the appropriate fund and account as determined by the Department of Finance.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Department of Law is authorized to accept the amount of $10,150.03 in compromise and settlement of the personal injury claim against Vattakkattil Ashokan, and said funds shall be deposited into the appropriate fund and account as determined by the Department of Finance.

Section 2. This resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
