A resolution recognizing the Jones Family and their commitment to the community as evidenced by their longevity running the Dairy King.

WHEREAS, the dedication and entrepreneurial spirit of small business owners are vital to our Nation's economic growth and prosperity in our communities; and

WHEREAS Dudley and Thelma Jones, former owners of the Dairy King drive-in bought the stand in 1970, were they continue to work along side new owner son Jeff; and

WHEREAS, Davidson County's Dairy King is one such establishment that has attracted a diverse and loyal clientele by providing not only cool, sweet and creamy ice cream but other down home cooking favorites such as batter-dipped deep fried twinkies, as well as attentive service to its many satisfied customers; and

WHEREAS, the outstanding success and stellar reputation that the Dairy King has attained would not have been possible without the hard work, dedication and perseverance of Dudley and Thelma Jones, and the new owner, Jeff Jones, and his staff; and

WHEREAS, the good people of this community greatly appreciate the valuable contributions of Dudley, Thelma and Jeff Jones (and staff) as they continue to keep the tradition of the Dairy King alive in their community; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Dudley and Thelma Jones, (former owners of Dairy King) and son Jeff Jones (the current Dairy King owner) as well as the loyal and courteous staff, not only on celebrating their 30th anniversary on April 6th 2006 operating under the Jones name, but also wish these fine folks all the best in their future culinary endeavors.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Dudley, Thelma and Jeff Jones (and staff) for their commitment to the community as evidenced by their longevity running the Dairy King.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Dudley, Thelma and Jeff Jones, prior and current owners of Dairy King.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
