RESOLUTION NO. RS2006-1281
A resolution requesting Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, Senator Lamar Alexander, and the Davidson County Congressional Delegation to take the action necessary to locate a new post office within the 37207 zip code area.
WHEREAS, the 37207 zip code of northeast Nashville is served by one post office located at 2325 Dickerson Pike; and
WHEREAS, according to the U.S. Census Bureau 2000 reports, the 37207 zip code has a population of 35,744; and
WHEREAS, other than the Antioch area, the 37207 zip is the most densely populated area of Davidson County that is only served by one post office; and
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Government is making great strides to enhance the quality of life in the northeast Nashville area through added police presence, increased neighborhood participation, and the encouragement of commercial redevelopment; and
WHEREAS, an additional post office in the 37207 zip code would further enhance the quality of life for the citizens in the area.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, Senator Lamar Alexander, and the Davidson County Congressional Delegation to take the action necessary to locate a new post office within the 37207 zip code area.
Section 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a copy of this Resolution to Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, Senator Lamar Alexander, and the membership of the Davidson County Congressional Delegation.
Section 3. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
