RESOLUTION NO. RS2006-1261

A resolution accepting a grant from the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County for costs associated with the sewer upgrade for the headquarters of the Fraternal Order of Police.

WHEREAS, the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development has awarded a grant in an amount not to exceed $44,573 to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, for costs associated with the sewer upgrade for the headquarters of the Fraternal Order of Police; and

WHEREAS, the grant requires matching funds in an amount of $29,716; and

WHEREAS, an agreement between Fraternal Order of Police and the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County was approved by Resolution RS2005-1028, which agreement requires Fraternal Order of Police to provide the matching funds; and

WHEREAS, Ordinance BL2004-382 granted the Department of Public Works the power and duty to manage and administer the Metropolitan Government's participation in the Tennessee FastTrack Infrastructure Development Program ("FIDP"); and

WHEREAS, Resolution RS2005-1027 approved the Metropolitan Government's application for this FIDP grant from the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development; and

WHEREAS, Fraternal Order of Police wishes to relocate its headquarters to Davidson County; and

WHEREAS, it is anticipated that Fraternal Order of Police's relocation will entail significant contributions of capital expenses and new employment positions, in Metropolitan Nashville and Davidson County; and

WHEREAS, it is to benefit the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant be accepted.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the grant by and between the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development in an amount not to exceed $44,573 to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, for costs associated with the sewer upgrade for the headquarters of the Fraternal Order of Police, a copy of which grant is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized the execute the same.

Section 2. That the amount of this grant be appropriated to the Department of Public Works, based on the revenues estimated to be received and any match to be applied.

Section 3. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
