RESOLUTION NO. RS2006-1248

A resolution requesting the Tennessee Department of Transportation to install noise abatement walls along Briley Parkway West between Brick Church Pike and Ashland City Highway.

WHEREAS, when Briley Parkway was extended through the Bordeaux and Whites Creek area, residents used to the peacefulness of the rolling hills were faced with the noise and distraction associated with a major controlled-access highway; and

WHEREAS, noise abatement walls have proven to substantially reduce highway noise levels in residential areas; and

WHEREAS, as part of its responsibility for the construction and maintenance of state roads and highways, the Tennessee Department of Transportation often installs noise abatement walls to protect the citizens in the vicinity of the highway; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Tennessee Department of Transportation construct noise abatement walls along this section of Briley Parkway West to limit the negative impact the highway noise is having on the residents of the area.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Tennessee Department of Transportation to install noise abatement walls along Briley Parkway West between Brick Church Pike and Ashland City Highway.
