RESOLUTION NO. RS2006-1208

A resolution setting a public hearing for Ordinance No. BL2006-980 pertaining to the renewal and transferability of building and demolition permits issued for property located within a Historic Overlay District.

WHEREAS, Ordinance No. BL2006-980, which is currently pending with the Metropolitan Council, would amend the Metropolitan Code of Laws to allow building and demolition permits for property located within a Historic Overlay District to be renewable every six months, regardless of whether work has commenced, and to make such permits transferable from one property owner or contractor to another; and

WHEREAS, although not required by law, the Council desires to hold a public hearing on Ordinance No. BL2006-980 to obtain public input regarding the ordinance.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That at the meeting of the Metropolitan Council to be held on Tuesday, April 18, 2006, at 7:00 p.m. in the Metropolitan Council Chamber on the first floor of Metro City Hall (225 Polk Avenue), the Council shall conduct a public hearing relative to Ordinance No. BL2006-980, at which hearing any person or organization desiring to be heard regarding the ordinance will be afforded such an opportunity.

Section 2. That the Metropolitan Clerk is hereby directed to have published in The Tennessean, being the daily newspaper of general circulation in Nashville, Tennessee, a legal notice declaring a public hearing will be held at the time and place as provided in Section 1 hereof.

Section 3. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
