RESOLUTION NO. RS2006-1197

A resolution recognizing Samuel Frey on being named "Teacher of the Year" for 2006-2007 at Jere Baxter Middle School.

WHEREAS, Samuel Frey, educator at Jere Baxter Middle School, is a highly respected and dedicated teacher and it is only fitting that such a public servant be recognized; and

WHEREAS, the leadership, commitment, and devotion that Samuel Frey has shown speaks volumes about his desire to improve the quality of education for our youth; and

WHEREAS, upon graduating from Tennessee Technological University with a degree in Education: English, Speech, and Journalism, he began his teaching career with Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools in 1996. He has received a Master's Degree in Administration and Supervision; and

WHEREAS, Samuel Frey recognizes that the future is dependent on children; therefore he is to be commended for his timeless and tireless efforts for the improvement of educational opportunities for children and for inspiring them to achieve their best by teaching AVID classes after his personal extensive training; involving students in technology by sponsoring the Panasonic Kid Witness News program; and

WHEREAS, in recognition of his teaching accomplishments, Samuel Frey has received a scholarship to attend an Aerospace Education Workshop and a grant to incorporate hands-on materials for classroom use; an appointment to the Technology Standards Committee of Metro Schools; and

WHEREAS, Samuel Frey's educational approaches calls for a demonstration of affection and approval, words of encouragement, and disciplined teaching style to help prepare his students for higher education and challenges that life has to offer; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Samuel Frey on receiving the 2006-2007 "Teacher of the Year" award.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Samuel Frey on being named "Teacher of the Year" for 2006-2007 at Jere Baxter Middle School.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Samuel Frey.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
