RESOLUTION NO. RS2006-1191

A resolution requesting the Tennessee Department of Transportation to paint the undersection of the three bridges on Interstate 40 at Clifton Avenue, Batavia Street, and 28th Avenue North.

WHEREAS, the Tennessee Department of Transportation is responsible for the construction and maintenance of state roads and highways, including bridges and underpasses; and

WHEREAS, Interstate 40 passes under several local streets in the North Nashville area within a one-mile span; and

WHEREAS, the undersection of the bridges at Clifton Avenue, Batavia Street, and 28th Avenue North are in an unsightly condition; and

WHEREAS, painting the undersection of these bridges would enhance the aesthetic quality of the North Nashville neighborhood and would promote a positive image of the North Nashville area.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Tennessee Department of Transportation to paint the undersection of the three bridges on Interstate 40 at Clifton Avenue, Batavia Street, and 28th Avenue North.

Section 2. That the Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a copy of this Resolution to Tennessee Department of Transportation Commissioner Gerald Nicely and to Billy Lynch, the Director of the Department of Public Works.

Section 3. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
