A resolution recognizing Noel Whitley, President of the Glencliff Neighborhood Association, on winning the Neighborhood of the Year award for South Nashville.

WHEREAS, it is fitting that we recognize those estimable public servants who through their extraordinary efforts, have distinguished themselves as true community leaders and who have dedicated themselves to improving the quality of life for their fellow citizens; and

WHEREAS, Noel Whitley, President of the Glencliff Neighborhood Association is one such individual who takes pride in her neighborhood; and

WHEREAS, her love of her community and exceptional compassion to the neighbors around her in South Nashville has longed fueled her vision of bringing new life to her neighborhood; and

WHEREAS, Noel's Saturday bi-monthly neighbor clean-ups, choosing different sections and streets each time to help improve the environment as well as the image of the neighborhood, is a testament of her time-honored values of hard work, common sense and ability to work well with people from all walks of life to ensure the success of her community; and

WHEREAS, Noel's commitment and services to her neighbors goes above and beyond the call of duty, it should be an inspiration for all Glencliff Neighborhood Association residents; and

WHEREAS, Noel's commitment to her community comes at a personal sacrifice to the time she spends with her companion and friend, Jim, and her horses being trained for competition; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Noel Whitley for her leadership and community advocacy on receiving the Neighborhood of the Year award for South Nashville and convey to her our appreciation for the hard work she is doing in her neighborhood.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Noel Whitley, President of the Glencliff Neighborhood Association, on winning the Neighborhood of the Year award for South Nashville.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Noel Whitley.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
