RESOLUTION NO. RS2006-1129
A resolution recognizing and congratulating Hull-Jackson Montessori Magnet School counselor, Debra Watson on being named the 2005-2006 "Elementary School Counselor of the Year" by the Tennessee Counselor Association.
WHEREAS, Debra Watson has recently been selected as "Elementary School Counselor of the Year" for the State of Tennessee, an honor most befitting her outstanding tenure as a counselor as it recognizes the positive influence she has had on countless young lives and is well deserving of this recognition; and
WHEREAS, an elementary counselor Debra Watson, is committed to helping the students of Hull-Jackson Montessori Magnet School with group counseling, classroom guidance, and individual counseling in helping students cope with everyday life; and
WHEREAS, Debra Watson has served 32 years as an employee of Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools and has served 20 years as a counselor; and
WHEREAS, before joining Hull-Jackson Montessori Magnet School in 2003 as their counselor, she was an elementary teacher at Joelton Elementary and is one of the original eight counselors hired as an elementary school counselor by Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools in January of 1986, where she began her counseling career by implementing the counseling program at Stratton Elementary; and
WHEREAS, Debra Watson, brings enthusiasm and energy to her job, as she shows vision, creativity and innovation in helping students explore their potential and setting realistic goals for themselves; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Debra Watson on receiving the "Elementary School Counselor of the Year" award and commends her exceptional service to the staff, students and parents of Hull-Jackson Montessori Magnet School and wish her all the best.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing and congratulating Hull-Jackson Montessori Magnet School counselor, Debra Watson on being named the 2005-2006 "Elementary School Counselor of the Year" by the Tennessee Counselor Association.
Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Debra Watson.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
