RESOLUTION NO. RS2006-1128

A resolution recognizing Mrs. Kathy Shaw upon receiving the 2005 Environmental Educator of the Year Award.

WHEREAS, on September 17, 2005, Mrs. Kathy Shaw received the 2005 Environmental Educator of the Year Award amongst family and friends at the Annual Conference of the Tennessee Environmental Education Association in Newport, Tennessee; and

WHEREAS, Kathy Shaw, a native Tennessean, graduated from Tullahoma High School before continuing her education at Middle Tennessee State University, is united in marriage to Tracy Shaw her soul mate of 25 years and from their blessed union were born Amy and David; and

WHEREAS, the leadership, commitment, and devotion that Mrs. Kathy Shaw, has shown speaks volumes about her desire to improve the quality of the environment for her community and the City of Nashville; and

WHEREAS, the Environmental Educator of the Year Award was established by the Tennessee Environmental Education Association to honor individuals who make outstanding contributions to environmental education; and

WHEREAS, the Environmental Educator of the Year Award is given to Kathy Shaw "For Unceasing Dedication to Environmental Education And To Sharing Her Love An Knowledge of Birds With All Ages" and who demonstrates exemplary achievements in Environmental Education at the Warner Park Nature Center and the Metro Parks and Recreation Department; and

WHEREAS, Kathy Shaw marked her 10th year anniversary working at the Warner Park Nature Center where she teaches important environmental concepts to children and adults, dedicates numerous hours to the study and research of resident and migratory birds, organizes and designs and develops exhibits, brochures, and literature that benefit thousands of park visitors each year; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize Mrs. Kathy Shaw on receiving the 2005 Environmental Educator of the Year Award and wish her continued success.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Mrs. Kathy Shaw upon receiving the 2005 Environmental Educator of the Year Award.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Kathy Shaw.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
