RESOLUTION NO. RS2006-1126

A resolution recognizing and commending Bill Hall for his outstanding contributions to Nashville and Davidson County as he retires after thirty-one years on television.

WHEREAS, putting it plain and simply, Bill Hall has been Nashville's good friend for the last thirty-one years; and

WHEREAS, after telling us the weather for most of the last three decades, demonstrating how to grow better tomatoes or catch bigger fish, and making us laugh as he discussed daily events with Snowbird and his friends, Bill Hall has decided to retire from his role as Severe Weather Team Anchor at WSMV-TV; and

WHEREAS, Bill's distinctive voice filled our living rooms nightly as he became a daily part of our everyday lives; and

WHEREAS, Bill Hall has been that smiling face and guiding light that Nashvillians could turn to for reassurance at those times of uncertainty in the weather; and

WHEREAS, Bill Hall has, through his time and efforts, provided immeasurable assistance to charitable groups, schools, churches, and causes throughout our community; and

WHEREAS, the City owes Bill's wife Carolyn and his children a great deal of thanks as they have had to share Bill with all of us; and

WHEREAS, with his retirement, Bill will now have the time and freedom to hunt and fish without regards to wall calendars and alarm clocks; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting that the Metropolitan Council wish Bill Hall all the best as we are going to miss turning on Channel 4 and not seeing him.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing and commending Bill Hall for his outstanding contributions to Nashville and Davidson County as he retires after thirty-one years on television.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Bill Hall.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
