A resolution recognizing Mr. Walton Y. Draper III for his accomplishments and service to the Criminal Court Clerk's Office, Justice Community, and the citizens of Davidson County.

WHEREAS, Mr. Walton Y. Draper III is first and foremost a Nashvillian; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Draper is a graduate of Memphis State University and joined the staff of the Criminal Court Clerk's Office in Nashville on September 1, 1982 under Mr. Joe Torrence; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Draper has worked tirelessly to improve the administrative operations of the judicial system for all practitioners and participants in Nashville, Davidson County; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Draper during his twenty-three (23) years of service has held various management positions within the Criminal Court Clerk's Office culminating in his appointment as Chief Deputy in the summer of 1999; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Draper was instrumental in the multiple year design and final deployment of the Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) in 1999 which integrated data communications and operations between fourteen (14) agencies in the justice community; and

WHEREAS, The U.S. Department of Justice has recognized the CJIS application as "a leading example of an integrated county justice information management system. In our experience, there are only a handful of integrated justice systems, all of which are at the county level, that address the data management issues as comprehensively as the Davidson County CJIS"; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Draper has continued to deploy new and innovative technologies for access to services offered by the Criminal Court Clerk to the present day; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Draper is not only a leader, but also a highly respected member of the justice community in Nashville, Davidson County; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognize Mr. Walton Y. Draper III for his accomplishments and dedication to the local justice community, and the Office of the Criminal Court Clerk during his 23 years of service.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Mr. Walton Y. Draper III for his accomplishments and service to the Criminal Court Clerk's Office, Justice Community, and the citizens of Davidson County.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Mr. Walton Y. Draper III.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
