RESOLUTION NO. RS2005-948

A resolution recognizing the 2005 Tennessee State Fair on celebrating the 100th Fair.

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan City Council finds it fitting to pay tribute to those events that feature great educational and entertaining exhibits, livestock, agricultural, and creative arts competitions and family fun to the citizens of Tennessee; and

WHEREAS, the Tennessee State Fair is one such event celebrating their 100th Tennessee State Fair starting with the first Fair in 1906; and

WHEREAS, only through the diligent work and true dedication of the staff and volunteers and the support of business, civic groups and organizations throughout Tennessee could the State Fair have reached such levels of continued success; and

WHEREAS, the Tennessee State Fair is a ten day event running from September 9, 2005 to September 18, 2005; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting that this Metropolitan City Council takes time to acknowledge and applaud the hard work and dedication of the Tennessee State Fair's staff and volunteers in their ceaseless endeavors to improve on the ten day event and on their 100th Fair and extend our best wishes for every future success.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the 2005 Tennessee State Fair on celebrating the 100th Fair.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Fair Executive Director, David Jeter on behalf of the Tennessee State Fair, the Board of Fair Commissioners, the staff, supporters and volunteers.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
