RESOLUTION NO. RS2005-941
A resolution recognizing Carl L. Brown, Sr., for his service to the community.
WHEREAS, it is fitting that we recognize those estimable public servants who through their extraordinary efforts, have distinguished themselves as true community advocates and who have dedicated themselves to improving the quality of life for their fellow citizens; and
WHEREAS, Carl L. Brown, Sr., is one such individual who takes pride in his community and should be recognized; and
WHEREAS, Carl L. Brown, Sr., attended the Nashville Public School system, a graduate of Hillsboro High School and employed with Coca-Cola Bottling Company Consolidated for over 20 years where he has worked his way up the corporate ladder to become the Tennessee Division Target Market Manager; and
WHEREAS, Carl L. Brown, Sr., has directed the Coca-Cola Community Connection Program which targets urban Black and Hispanic American communities, retailers and organizations; and
WHEREAS, he has been recognized as a good corporate partner and citizen trough having worked with, sponsored or co-sponsored but not limited too these organizations and events through the Coca-Cola Community Connection program: Boys & Girls Club, YMCA, numerous church and community organizations, Metro Public Schools, Jefferson Street Jazz and Blues Festival, Hispanic Kids Fun Day, Fisk University NYSP Family Day, etc; and
WHEREAS, he served on the Tennessee State University Foundation and the Clark Memorial United Methodist Church Board of Trustees, sponsored relevant community public service announcements and events in ethnic urban communities and during the year executes four Coca-Cola Community Connection Consumer promotions which allow individuals opportunities to enjoy and receive lifetime memories that ordinarily they would not have; and
WHEREAS, his remarkable compassion and dedication as a public servant is attributable to his reliance on the values of hard work and common sense and ability to work well with people from all walks of life; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Carl L. Brown, Sr., for his leadership and service and convey to him our appreciation for his work in the community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Carl L. Brown, Sr., for his service to the community.
Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Carl L. Brown, Sr.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
