RESOLUTION NO. RS2005-893

A resolution recognizing and congratulating Rose Park Magnet School teacher, Alison Cook on being named the 2005-2006 "Middle School Teacher of the Year" for Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools.

WHEREAS, Alison Cook, educator at Rose Park Magnet School, has devoted her career to providing the highest quality education for Tennessee's students and is well deserving of this recognition; and

WHEREAS, although a native Californian, Alison Cook attended the Metropolitan Nashville Public School System since 3rd grade and is a graduate of Hillwood High School; and

WHEREAS, she obtained her undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University, her Masters Degree and her Master +30 Degree certificate from Vanderbilt University before coming to Rose Park Middle Magnet School to teach 7th and 8th grade Language Arts; and

WHEREAS, Alison Cook brings enthusiasm and energy to her students, has an excellent repertoire of teaching strategies, creativity, innovation, and vision that has brought invaluable assets to not only the classroom but to Rose Park Magnet School; and

WHEREAS, she has received several awards and recognitions during her teaching career by causing other students to strive for excellence; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Alison Cook on receiving the "Middle School Teacher of the Year" award and commends her exceptional service to her students, saluting her professional expertise while wishing her all the best in her future endeavors.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing and congratulating Rose Park Magnet School teacher, Alison Cook on being named the 2005-2006 "Middle School Teacher of the Year" for Metropolitan Nashville Public Schools.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Alison Cook.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
