A resolution authorizing the Metropolitan Department of Law to compromise and settle the claim of April Jennings against The Metropolitan Government for an amount not to exceed $55,000.00, and directing that this amount be paid from the Self-Insured Liability Fund.

Whereas, on June 1, 2002, April Jennings stepped on a Metropolitan Government Water & Sewer meter cover and the cover gave way, whereby Ms. Jennings sustained personal injuries; and,

Whereas, April Jennings brought suit against the Metropolitan Government of Nashville Davidson County in Circuit Court for injuries sustained in this accident; and,

Whereas, after investigation, the Department of Law believes the settlement of $55,000.00 is fair and reasonable and in the best interest of the Metropolitan Government, and recommends that this lawsuit be compromised and settled, and that this amount be paid from the Self-Insured Liability Fund.

Now therefore be it resolved by the Council of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Department of Law is authorized to compromise and settle the claim of April Jennings in an amount not to exceed $55,000.00, which amount shall be paid form the Self-Insured Liability Fund.

Section 2. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
