A resolution recognizing and congratulating Miss Heidi Nikole Butler of Davidson County upon being named 2005 Miss Nashville.

WHEREAS, it is a pleasure to specially recognize those outstanding young people of this State whose poise, admirable personality traits, and beauty, both inner and outer, make them role models among their peers; and

WHEREAS, one such outstanding young woman is Heidi Nikole Butler of Davidson County, who was recently named the 2005 Miss Nashville; and

WHEREAS, the Miss Nashville Scholarship Pageant, a local Miss America Organization preliminary, is a not-for-profit organization helping young women obtain scholarships, life skills and opportunities to achieve their career and personal goals; and

WHEREAS, a sophomore at Lipscomb University, Heidi Butler is the daughter of Timothy and Jeannie Butler of Nashville, Tennessee; and

WHEREAS, on Saturday, February 19, 2005, Heidi Nikole Butler won the coveted title of Miss Nashville, becoming eligible to participate in the Miss Tennessee pageant to be held in June in Jackson, Tennessee and during her reign Heidi will be promoting her platform of Adoption Awareness throughout the Nashville area; and

WHEREAS, Miss Butler competed against numerous other contestants who were judged on their beauty, poise, and personality, participated in personal interviews, and were rated anonymously by observer judges as they interacted with others; and

WHEREAS, Heidi's drive and determination are a source of pride for her parents, her school, and her community; she is thankful for her experience, for what she has learned during the competition, and especially for meeting and developing friendships with the other pageant contestants; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes one of Tennessee's most promising young women, Miss Heidi Nikole Butler, a young women of great ability and integrity, upon being named Miss Nashville and extend to her our best wishes for every success in all her future endeavors.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing and congratulating Miss Heidi Nikole Butler of Davidson County upon being named 2005 Miss Nashville.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Heidi Nikole Butler.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
