RESOLUTION NO. RS2005-815

A resolution recognizing and commending Sharon Kay Williams for her myriad contributions to society.

WHEREAS, recognition of those estimable citizens whose dedication to improving the quality of life for all people has greatly impacted this State; and

WHEREAS, one such individual is Ms. Sharon Kay Williams, award winning talk show host and media veteran who has achieved tremendous success and is well deserving of recognition; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Sharon Kay Williams brings years of media work through radio to WQQK where she strives to bring issues affecting women and minorities to the forefront by staying on the pulse of whatever communities she's a part of; and

WHEREAS, Ms. Sharon Kay Williams writes, directs, produces and hosts What's the 411? with Sharon Kay the highly successful Sunday morning talk show which is the "number one talk show" in the 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. time slot throughout Tennessee; and

WHEREAS, What's the 411? with Sharon Kay is a fast-past live talk show program which is broadcast from Music Row in the studios of WQQK Radio on 92Q; and

WHEREAS, What's the 411? with Sharon Kay is the first program of it's kind on the radio station that takes top stories from African American newspaper publications in Tennessee, along with national news, health issues, and economic development, etc., and reports issues that you may not see anywhere else; and

WHEREAS, during her nearly three decades in the media, Ms. Sharon Kay Williams has received countless awards and recognitions in several states for her work on community and health issues; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Ms. Sharon Kay Williams for her distinguished and trailblazing career and commend her for her many years of exemplary service.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing and commending Sharon Kay Williams for her myriad contributions to society.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Ms. Sharon Kay Williams.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
