A resolution recognizing the neighborhoods of East Nashville and the community leaders who serve them.

WHEREAS, it is fitting that we recognize those estimable public servants who through their extraordinary efforts, have distinguished themselves as true community leaders and who have dedicated themselves to improving the quality of life for their fellow citizens; and

WHEREAS, Sam McCullough, David Best, the late John L. McCullough and Rev. Robert McCullough, Jr., Cleveland Park Neighborhood Association, Mike Douglas, Dickerson Road Merchant Association, James H. Jenkins, Sr. and Amy Bryson, Greenwood Neighborhood Association, Gwen McClain, Joy Garden Neighborhood Association, Larry Eaton, Maxwell Heights Neighborhood Association, Rev. Chris Fentress and Ms. Chippy Grier, McFerrin Park Neighborhood Association, Carol McCullough, Neighborhood Resource Center, Marcellus Brooks, North Edgefield Organized Neighbors (NEON), and John G. Wendt, Renraw Community Association are such individuals who take pride in their neighborhood; and

WHEREAS, their love of their community in East Nashville has longed fueled their vision of bringing new life to their neighborhood and they epitomize the ideal of the consummate public servant, reliable friend and neighbor; and

WHEREAS, Sam McCullough, David Best, the late John L. McCullough and Rev. Robert McCullough, Jr., Mike Douglas, James H. Jenkins, Sr., Amy Bryson, Gwen McClain, Larry Eaton, Rev. Chris Fentress, Ms. Chippy Grier, Carol McCullough, Marcellus Brooks and John G. Wendt's remarkable compassion and dedication as public servants are attributable to their reliance on the time-honored values of hard work and common sense and ability to work well with people from all walks of life to ensure the success of their vital community; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Sam McCullough, David Best, the late John L. McCullough and Rev. Robert McCullough, Jr., Mike Douglas, James H. Jenkins, Sr., Amy Bryson, Gwen McClain, Larry Eaton, Rev. Chris Fentress, Ms. Chippy Grier, Carol McCullough, Marcellus Brooks and John G. Wendt for their leadership and community advocacy and convey to them our appreciation for the hard work they are doing in their neighborhood.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the neighborhoods of East Nashville and the community leaders who serve them.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Sam McCullough, David Best, Mike Douglas, James H. Jenkins, Sr., Amy Bryson, Gwen McClain, Larry Eaton, Rev. Chris Fentress, Ms. Chippy Grier, Carol McCullough, Marcellus Brooks and John G. Wendt.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
