A resolution recognizing the services of the law enforcement officers of the East Precinct of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.

WHEREAS, the East Precinct is staffed by dedicated professionals skilled in responding to any crisis, while performing their duties with the utmost skill, dedication, and professionalism, their services can only be categorized as outstanding, and should be recognized as public servants; and

WHEREAS, the contributions, abilities and composure of these valiant public servants are an inspiration and reassurance to the safety and peace of mind of everyone who lives, works or visits our communities; and

WHEREAS, the members of the law enforcement of the East Precinct by their faithful and loyal devotion to their responsibilities, have rendered a dedicated service to their communities and, in so doing, have established themselves an enviable and enduring reputation for preserving the rights and security of all citizens; and

WHEREAS, under the command of East Precinct Commander Danny Baker, cooperation between police officers of the East Precinct and neighborhood associations are credited with helping in cut the overall crime rate in East Nashville by 10 percent in 2004, and subsequently recognized as "Precinct of the Year"; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes and appreciates the hard work of our law enforcement officers who make it possible for us to live our lives in safety each day and we offer our thanks for a difficult job well done; and

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the services of the law enforcement officers of the East Precinct of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to East Precinct Commander Danny Baker and all law enforcement officers who serve the East Precinct.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
