A resolution recognizing and commending Detective David Zoccola of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.

WHEREAS, David Zoccola, Sex Crimes Detective, was named the Metropolitan Police Department's Investigator of the Year for 2004, for his exceptional law enforcement ability while performing his official duties with the utmost dedication and care, and his conduct has consistently been worthy of confidence and public trust; and

WHEREAS, the extraordinary diligence, commitment and accomplishments demonstrated by this law enforcement officer throughout his years of public service merit recognition; and

WHEREAS, Detective David Zoccola is a 26-year police department veteran and continues to devote innumerable hours of his time and energy toward keeping child offenders off the streets of Davidson County; and

WHEREAS, Detective David Zoccola was named Investigator of the Year for his meticulous investigative work that led to the arrest of a sexual predator; and

WHEREAS, during an investigation, this outstanding police officer repeatedly demonstrated his concern for a young victim of a crime and while working closely with the victims mother they were able to apprehend the perpetrator in making an arrest; and

WHEREAS, it is important to recognize the efforts of Detective Zoccola for his dedication and professionalism in working with child victims and their families of sex crimes and to acknowledge the day to day duties in protecting the citizens of Davidson County in keeping the streets and communities of Nashville a safe place to live and work; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Detective David Zoccola for his dedication, his exemplary service, and talent as a law enforcement officer and his concern for the safety of the people of Nashville and the many visitors to Tennessee's capital.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing and commending Detective David Zoccola of the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Detective David Zoccola.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
