A resolution recognizing Whitney R. Waugh, 2005 Valedictorian of Antioch High School.

WHEREAS, it is fitting to pause to pay tribute to those students who through their natural talents and unflagging commitment to academic excellence have distinguished themselves in the classroom; and

WHEREAS, Whitney R. Waugh is one such exceptional student, who was named Valedictorian of the 2005 graduating class of Antioch High School; and

WHEREAS, through diligent study, steady composure during examinations, and steadfast commitment of time and talent, Ms. Waugh has achieved outstanding academic success, and has joined the ranks of the best and brightest students in Tennessee and our country; and

WHEREAS, in her remarkable high school career, Ms. Waugh has earned an exemplary grade point average of 99.5%, and her display of intellectual aptitude and ambition surely bodes well for her future success; and

WHEREAS, a talented young woman of the highest caliber, Ms. Waugh has demonstrated her athletic ability as a member of the high school basketball, volleyball and softball teams; and

WHEREAS, Whitney has been active during her high school career as a member of the National Honor Society, the Dance Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and has shown leadership in the collection of donations for charitable organizations and as a mentor assisting the JFK Middle School volleyball team; and

WHEREAS, no stranger to honors and accolades, Ms. Waugh's scholarly achievements include, Who's Who Among American High School Students and the Principal's List; and

WHEREAS, Whitney R. Waugh's noteworthy achievement is a tremendous source of pride for her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Waugh, her school and her community; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes 2005 Antioch High School Valedictorian, Whitney R. Waugh, on her impressive academic achievement, and extend to her our best wishes for a happy, successful future.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Whitney R. Waugh, 2005 Valedictorian of Antioch High School.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Ms. Whitney Waugh.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
