RESOLUTION NO. RS2005-735


A resolution requesting the Director of the Metropolitan Council Office to submit the three finalists for the Council Finance Manager position to the Personnel Committee to recommend the best qualified candidate, with the final candidate to be ratified by a majority vote of the Council.

WHEREAS, the Director of the Metropolitan Council Office has the authority for hiring the staff for the Council Office; and

WHEREAS, the substitute operating budget for fiscal year 2004-2005 adopted by the Council in June 2004, included an additional $50,000 for the Council Office to fund a finance officer position for one half year; and

WHEREAS, a total of twenty-seven (27) applications for the Finance Manager position were submitted to the Council Office prior to the deadline for the receipt of applications; and

WHEREAS, the senior staff members of the Council Office reviewed and rated the applicants for the Finance Manager position, and the top three candidates were scheduled for interviews; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Director of the Metropolitan Council Office submit the three finalists for the Finance Manager position to the Council Personnel Committee for further review and recommendation, with the final candidate to be ratified by a majority vote of the full membership of the Council.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Director of the Metropolitan Council Office to submit the three finalists for the Council Finance Manager position to the Personnel Committee to recommend the best qualified candidate, with the final candidate to be ratified by a majority vote of the Council.

Section 2. That the Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a copy of this Resolution by electronic mail to Donald W. Jones, the Director of the Metropolitan Council Office.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
