RESOLUTION NO. RS2005-727


A resolution approving a contract by and between the Metropolitan Board of Health and Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center for the Health Department's conduct and supervision of telephone surveys to study cardiovascular disease and diabetes among African-Americans and management of resulting data, and Matthew Walker's payment therefor.

WHEREAS, Resolutions RS2003-100 and RS2003-1326 approved prior agreements between the Board of Health and Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center ("Matthew Walker"); and

WHEREAS, the Board of Health and Matthew Walker again wish to enter into such an agreement, a copy of which is attached hereto, pursuant to which the Health Department will receive $88,351 from Matthew Walker and will assist Matthew Walker in implementing its grant to develop a plan to reduce cardiovascular disease and diabetes among African-Americans by conducting and supervising telephone surveys, and managing the resulting data; and

WHEREAS, it is to benefit the citizens of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this contract be approved.

Now, therefore, be it resolved by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1. That the contract by and between the Metropolitan Board of Health and Matthew Walker Comprehensive Health Center, Inc., for the payment of $88,351 to the Board of Health and for the Health Department to conduct and supervise telephone surveys and manage the resulting data, pertaining to cardiovascular disease and diabetes among African-Americans, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved.

Section 2. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of the Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
