RESOLUTION NO. RS2005-713

A resolution recognizing Chelsea VanCleave.

WHEREAS, those committed young adults of this State who have risen to great heights in their respective sport, continually strive to improve their individual performance and become a role model to their peers whom they can be proud of; and

WHEREAS, one such dedicated young athlete is twelve year old Chelsea VanCleave of Antioch, Tennessee, a seventh-grader at J.F. Kennedy Middle School in Antioch, who began her drag racing career at the age of nine with her Jr. Dragster the Golden Commando Jr.; and

WHEREAS, drag racing is truly an unique and individual sport and one in which Chelsea, a truly remarkable young lady, is able to compete at such a high level of intensity; and

WHEREAS, by the time Chelsea begins her 5th season of drag racing in April of 2005, she will have already received numerous awards, trophies and 1st Place victories in her young career while competing throughout seven States; and

WHEREAS, Chelsea not only enjoys the thrill of racing competition but she takes time out from her busy racing schedule to display and make appearances with her dragster, sign autographs, and participate in speaking events; and

WHEREAS, she has had write ups on her career in several prominent magazines and several of the local news channels have done stories on her; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Chelsea VanCleave on her winning ways and dedication to the sport of drag racing, commend her for her commitment to excellence, and extend to her our heartiest wishes for every success and happiness in the future.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Chelsea VanCleave.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Chelsea VanCleave.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
