RESOLUTION NO. RS2005-687

A resolution requesting the Director of the Metropolitan Council Office to delay hiring any additional staff until a Best Practices Study of the Council Office has been conducted.

WHEREAS, the Director of the Metropolitan Council Office has the authority for hiring the staff for the Council Office; and

WHEREAS, the substitute operating budget fiscal year 2004-2005 adopted by the Council in June 2004, included an additional $50,000 for the Council Office to fund a finance officer position for one half year; and

WHEREAS, in order to determine of additional Council Office staff would improve the efficiency and service to the Metropolitan Council, a Best Practices Study should be conducted; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Director of the Metropolitan Council Office hold off hiring a finance officer, or any other new staff position, until a Best Practices Study has been conducted.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Director of the Metropolitan Council Office to delay hiring any additional staff until a Best Practices Study of the Council Office has been conducted.

Section 2. That the Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a copy of this Resolution by electronic mail to Donald W. Jones, the Director of the Metropolitan Council Office.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
