RESOLUTION NO. RS2005-659

A resolution recognizing Metro Police Officers Angela Page and Torian Cox on being awarded the Judge John L. Draper Joint Nashville Police Odd Fellow Award.

WHEREAS, Metro Police Officers Angela Page and Torian Cox received the award for their outstanding police work for taking two drug peddlers off the streets in the South Nashville Community and are well deserving of this recognition; and

WHEREAS, while on routine patrol in July of 2003, Metro Police Officers Angela Page and Torian Cox noticed a vehicle driving along 8th Avenue South without its headlights activated, after stopping the vehicle they discovered the driver did not have a valid license, after having placed him under arrest they proceeded to search the car where they found several guns and drugs; and

WHEREAS, the Odd Fellows of Nashville have sponsored this award for the past 44 years, which is given twice a year to an officer below the rank of lieutenant who makes an arrest of a person already wanted, or who makes a criminal case based on the original citing of a traffic law violator.

WHEREAS, it is important to recognize the efforts, dedication and sacrifices by such individuals such as Metro Police Officers Angela Page and Torian Cox and to acknowledge the day to day duties of law enforcement in protecting the citizens of Davidson County; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes these fine Metro Police Officers for not only their outstanding police work but their continuing contributions in keeping the streets and communities of Nashville a safe place to live and work.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Metro Police Officers Angela Page and Torian Cox on being awarded the Judge John L. Draper Joint Nashville Police Odd Fellow Award.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Metro Police Officers Angela Page and Torian Cox.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
