RESOLUTION NO. RS2005-658

A resolution recognizing Joe and Joy West for their recycling efforts for the Joelton community.

WHEREAS, in their characteristically selfless fashion, Joe and Joy West have devoted more than thirty years to recycling and these public servants are well deserving of recognition; and

WHEREAS, the West’s used their vision, skills, energy and long-standing commitment to recycling to secure a location in the Joelton area, that has greatly benefited the citizens, with the discarding of their recyclables; and

WHEREAS, since the new convenient drop-off site, local businesses and neighbors alike actively participate in recycling in the Joelton community; and

WHEREAS, the West’s implementation of a convenient recycling drop-off site for the communities in Joelton have enhanced the natural beauty of the area; and

WHEREAS, in addition to the countless hours of monitoring and maintaining the recycling drop-off site the West’s have devoted countless hours in the community in assisting at Alex Green Elementary School, serving Seniors, making Thanksgiving baskets for the needy, and supporters of the youth and families in the neighborhood by having bake sales and pecan sales; and

WHEREAS, Joe West served as President of the Whites Creek Community Club, received 1st place in the Gardening Contest presented by the Tennessee State Fair and received feature Club of the Month for November 2004 by the Davidson County Council of Community Clubs; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Joe and Joy West for their tireless commitment, and efforts in recycling and in making Joelton a better, cleaner place to live.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Joe and Joy West for their recycling efforts for the Joelton community.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Joe and Joy West.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
