RESOLUTION NO. RS2005-1016
A resolution requesting the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency to initiate an Adaptive Reuse Ordinance (ARO) pilot project for Dickerson Pike, East Trinity Lane, and Douglas Avenue.
WHEREAS, on February 1, 2005, the Metropolitan Council enacted Ordinance No. BL2004-492, as amended, which amended the Metropolitan Zoning Code to allow residential uses in commercial zoning districts along the major arterial and collector streets within the urban zoning overlay; and
WHEREAS, in enacting Ordinance No. BL2004-492, known as the Adaptive Reuse Ordinance (ARO), the Metropolitan Council intended to encourage residential development in vacant, underutilized, and distressed commercial areas; and
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Development and Housing Agency (MDHA) has the authority under state law to take actions necessary to remove urban blight through various redevelopment projects; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that MDHA take the action necessary to initiate an ARO pilot project in the Dickerson Road and Trinity Lane area located in Council District 5.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That
the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Metropolitan
Development and Housing Agency to initiate an Adaptive Reuse Ordinance (ARO)
pilot project for Dickerson Pike, East Trinity Lane, and Douglas Avenue located
in Council District 5.
Section 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a copy of this Resolution
to Phil Ryan, the executive director of the Metropolitan Development and Housing
Agency.
Section 3. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
