A resolution requesting the Department of Information Technology Services to add a “Council Votes Taken” link to the Metropolitan Council’s website.

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Department of Information Technology Services (ITS) is responsible for the maintenance of the computer information and data processing systems of the Metropolitan Government; and

WHEREAS, the mission of ITS is to “provide information, communication and business solutions to the departments and agencies of the Metropolitan Government so that they can achieve their business objectives and exceed the expectations of the citizens”; and

WHEREAS, the Council’s website, which is maintained by ITS, currently includes a link to the Council minutes; and

WHEREAS, citizens who log on the Council’s website looking to see how their Councilmember voted on a particular issue may not realize that they need to access the minutes in order to access the votes; and

WHEREAS, adding a link to the Council’s website that provides citizens with clear and direct information regarding votes taken by the Metropolitan Council would further the mission of ITS and increase the accessibility of government information.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Department of Information Technology Services to add a “Council Votes Taken” link to the Metropolitan Council’s website.
