RESOLUTION NO. RS2004-535
A resolution requesting Comcast Cable to provide discounted service to residents of senior citizen housing centers.
WHEREAS, Comcast Cable currently holds a franchise to operate a cable television system in Nashville and Davidson County in accordance with Chapter 6.08 of the Metropolitan Code of Laws; and
WHEREAS, although Comcast is not the only cable television franchise holder in Nashville, it is the only franchisee that is currently providing service to the Nashville community; and
WHEREAS, many residents of senior citizen retirement centers and assisted living facilities are on fixed incomes and would greatly benefit from discounted cable television service; and
WHEREAS, Comcast currently provides discounts to senior citizens and residents of multi-unit buildings in other cities across the country; and
WHERAS, it is fitting and proper that Comcast provide a similar discount both
assisted and unassisted senior housing centers in Nashville and Davidson County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT
OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting Comcast Cable to provide discounted service to residents of senior citizen housing centers.
Section 2. That the Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to Virgil Cardill, the General Manager of Comcast in Nashville.
Section 3. That this Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
