A resolution requesting the Tennessee Department of Transportation to install noise abatement walls along Interstate 40 from 46th Avenue North to 18th Avenue, and to increase efforts to maintain the right-of-way along this section of Interstate 40.
WHEREAS, the Tennessee Department of Transportation is responsible for the construction and maintenance of state roads and highways; and
WHEREAS, the section of Interstate 40 from 46th Avenue North to 18th Avenue passes through a densely populated urban area, with many residences in close proximity to the interstate; and
WHEREAS, noise abatement walls have been proven to substantially reduce highway noise levels in residential areas; and
WHEREAS, increased efforts on the part of the Tennessee Department of Transportation regarding the maintenance of the right-of-way along Interstate 40 in North Nashville, such as the collection of debris and the cutting of high weeds and grass on a more frequent basis, would substantially enhance the aesthetic quality of the area; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Tennessee Department of Transportation construct noise abatement walls along the interstate in this highly populated area and increase efforts to maintain the interstate right-of-way.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
