RESOLUTION NO. RS2004-524

A resolution requesting the Metropolitan Transit Authority to establish a Weekend Restaurant Route connecting east and west Nashville.

WHEREAS, Nashville is home to many outstanding restaurants offering a wide variety of culinary experiences; and

WHEREAS, many restaurants in Nashville provide limited parking facilities, which acts as a deterrent to some patrons from visiting such restaurants; and

WHEREAS, a weekend restaurant route connecting east and west Nashville would encourage citizens and tourists alike to visit the many restaurants that Nashville has to offer and would potentially boost revenue for the Metro Transit Authority as well; and

WHEREAS, such a restaurant route could include areas such as Hillsboro Village, Little Five Points, 20th Avenue and Grand, Division Street, Demonbreun Street, Broadway, and Second Avenue, and operate Thursday through Saturday from 6:00 p.m. to 3:00 a.m.

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Transit Authority establish a Weekend Restaurant Route in Nashville.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Metropolitan Transit Authority to establish a Weekend Restaurant Route connecting east and west Nashville.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to each member of the Metropolitan Transit Authority and to Paul Ballard, the MTA Chief Executive Officer.
