RESOLUTION NO. RS2004-522

A resolution requesting the Department of Public Works to submit a brush collection implementation plan to the Metropolitan Council.

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Department of Public Works provides brush collection service to residents of Davidson County; and

WHEREAS, the Department of Public Works is currently using a route system for the collection of brush in both the Urban Services District and the General Services District; and

WHEREAS, certain Davidson County residents have expressed concern about piles of brush remaining uncollected for an extended period of time, which not only is unsightly, but poses possible health and safety issues; and

WHEREAS, the Council desires to ensure that the designated route system for brush collection is being followed and is adequate to address the needs of the taxpayers of Nashville and Davidson County; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Department of Public Works submit an implementation plan for brush collection to the Metropolitan Council.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Department of Public Works to submit a brush collection implementation plan to the Metropolitan Council.

Section 2. That the Department of Public Works is further requested to submit such report to the Council within ninety (90) days from the date of adoption of this Resolution.

Section 3. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to Mr. Billy Lynch, acting Director of the Department of Public Works.

Section 4. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
