RESOLUTION NO. RS2004-472

A resolution recognizing the Dixie Youth Baseball teams from Goodlettsville, Tennessee.

WHEREAS, these magnificent teams performed with precision while playing their hearts out against strong competition during the year as members of the Dixie Youth Baseball program; and

WHEREAS, these fine young athletes put tremendous effort into the development of their offensive and defensive skills and their precision and coordination as a team; and

WHEREAS, by their performance the players and coaches have brought recognition to the Goodlettsville area for not only their athletic abilities, but for their exceptional team play, their dedication, and their sportsmanship; and

WHEREAS, the 7-8 year olds were led by Coaches Dwayne Davis, Todd Neal, Dwight Jarratt and Wayne Hayley and members of this talented team are J.R. Davis, Luke Allison, Josh Brewer, Austin Franklin, Joshua Jarratt, Andrew Neely, Nathan Neal, Stephen Von Mann, Drew Pentecost, Wyatt Wolf, Jacob Reed, Ty Swenson, and Peyton Haley; and

WHEREAS, this Goodlettsville Dixie Youth Baseball team after winning the District 4 Championship, participated in the State Tournament in Sweetwater, Tennessee where they went on to win the state championship; and

WHEREAS, the 9-10 year olds were led by Coaches Bo Boguskie, Reece Cloar and Robert Wingo and members of this talented team are Collin Bradley, Seth Brown, Rob Chamberlain, Dylan Dorris, Scotty Ellis, Hunter Fitzgerald, Brad Jarreau, Wesley Kidwell, Toby Lee, Brandon Martin, Austin Mundy, Adam Pecenka and Matthew Smith; and

WHEREAS, in winning their state tournament in Joelton, Tennessee this team advanced to the 2004 Dixie Youth AAA (9-10) World Series in Muscle Shoals, Alabama where they finished co-runner up, and also displaying their sportsmanship this team was awarded the Bill Harth Sportsmanship Award; and

WHEREAS, the 11-12 year olds were led by Coaches Steve Anderson, Terry Chamberlain and Roger Cuttrell and members of this talented team are Tyler Anderson, Brock Haley, Mikey Kessler, Zach Byrd, Weston Wolfe, Eric Tallent, Wes Warren, Reece Chamberlain, Tyler Gettelfinger, Conner Hawkins, Zach Pursely, J.P. Caldwell and T.J. Cunningham; and

WHEREAS, in winning their state tournament in Jackson, Tennessee these 11-12 year olds advanced to the 2004 Dixie Youth Majors (11-12) World Series in Muscle Shoals, Alabama where they defeated Bartow, Florida for the championship; and

WHEREAS, the 13 year olds were led by Coaches Pat Wilson, Pat Goad and David Rains and members of this talented team are Tyler Brown, Mason Forbis, Ryan Goad, Jordan Hood, Clint Meadows, Dylan Potter, Carson Rains, Clay Searcy, Chase Snyder, Austin Steele, Taylor Stewart, Josh Willis, and Cody Wilson; and

WHEREAS, this remarkable team not only defeated Bolivar 16-7 making them the State Tournament Champions, but Glint Meadows received the MVP honor for the Tournament, and allowed them to qualify for the World Series; and

WHEREAS, this is the second straight year that the 7-8; 9-10, and 11-12 year olds represented Goodlettsville by winning their respective State Tournaments; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes these remarkable teams and their coaches on their outstanding 2004 baseball season.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the Dixie Youth Baseball teams from Goodlettsville, Tennessee.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to each member of the 7-8 year olds, 9-10 year olds, 11-12 year olds and the 13-year old baseball teams.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
