RESOLUTION NO. RS2004-468
A resolution recognizing Dr. Aldorothy L. Wright on her retirement after 41 years of dedicated service with the Metropolitan Nashville-Davidson County Public School System.
WHEREAS, Dr. Aldorothy L. Wright began her illustrious career as a teacher with the Metropolitan Nashville-Davidson County Public School System in 1963 at Ford Greene Elementary School, and
WHEREAS, while teaching her students cognitive and affective skills she demonstrated vast knowledge in the area of curriculum as she provided meaningful instruction for her students, she was therefore, identified by school administrators to become an Elementary Consultant who would assist other teachers in meeting the needs of their students, and
WHEREAS, her skills of administration were also, evident and she was assigned her first principalship at Stokes Elementary School serving there until being named Principal of Ford Greene, where she had once been a teacher, and
WHEREAS, Dr. Aldorothy Wright exemplified, and modeled strong leadership skills which were admired by other principals, some for whom she served as a mentor, she was then promoted to the level of Director of Elementary Administrative Services, a position which she held for several years, until being named Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services, and prior to retiring she was the Assistant Superintendent for Student Services, and
WHEREAS, throughout
Dr. Wright’s career she has been admired by her
colleagues for her outstanding abilities and has always been known for fairness,
impartiality and integrity in dealing with issues related to parents, students,
support staff, teachers and principals, and
WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Nashville Davidson County Public Schools will sorely
miss Dr. Aldorothy Wright who has been a champion for children, a motivator
of teachers, and friend to principals.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Dr. Aldorothy L. Wright on her retirement after 41 years of dedicated service with the Metropolitan Nashville-Davidson County Public School System.
Section 2. The Metropolitan Clerks Office is directed to prepare a hand-lettered scroll to be presented to Dr. Aldorothy L. Wright.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
