RESOLUTION NO. RS2004-467
A resolution recognizing John Thomas Howard, Sr. and Patria Haley Howard.
WHEREAS, those exemplary citizens who work tirelessly to protect, support, and nurture this State’s most precious resource; our children; and
WHEREAS, John Thomas Howard, Sr. and Patria Haley Howard are such sterling public servants; their commitment to children is evident by their hard work, energy and service in the community; and
WHEREAS, John Thomas Howard, Sr., through his tireless efforts and hard work as a play leader at the Old Fred Douglas Community Center and as a former member of the Metropolitan Parks Department he brought wholesome and quality recreation to all youth in East Nashville and the City; and
WHEREAS, Patria Haley Howard directed her efforts in working with disadvantaged youth. Her calling was often seen in her jobs that were agencies for the advocate for youth. She worked as a teacher in the Metropolitan School System and as a principal, was involved with the Metropolitan Action Commission and the Vocational School for girls; and
WHEREAS, the Howard’s spiritual leadership has given them the strength to continue their involvement with children in their church; and
WHEREAS, the Howard ‘s chief concern was to make a difference in the life of children and to be role models; and
WHEREAS, Patria Haley and John Thomas Howard, Sr., are extremely giving people who have proven themselves to be staunch advocates for Tennessee’s children as they continue to diligently apply themselves to serving the needs of children; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes the Howard’s who have dedicated themselves to improving the quality of life for the children of our communities and wish them continued happiness and success in their future endeavors.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing John Thomas Howard, Sr. and Patria Haley Howard.
Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to John Howard, Sr. and Patria Haley Howard.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
