RESOLUTION NO. RS2004-464
A resolution saluting and commending South Precinct Police Officer Dale Tomlin for his act of selfless heroism in the face of great danger.
WHEREAS, over the years, thousands of Tennesseans have committed themselves to this spirit of gallantry and self-sacrifice; the inherent bravery expressed by individuals is worthy of the utmost commendation of this legislative body; and
WHEREAS, South Precinct Police Officer Dale Tomlin has acted with courage and gallantry and deserves proper recognition for heroism as a citizen of the City of Nashville and the State of Tennessee; and
WHEREAS, on July 21, 2004, South Precinct Police Officer Dale Tomlin, at approximately 11:15 a.m., noticed heavy smoke coming from the Timberlake Village Apartment complex and without hesitation he approached the burning building pulling to safety a family of three; and
WHEREAS, the timely response, prompt intervention and quick-thinking of Officer Tomlin and his unselfish concern for personal safety saved the lives of these fellow human beings; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes South Precinct Police Officer Dale Tomlin for his courage, his exceptional act of heroism and commend him for his composure he demonstrated in the face of extreme personal danger.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record saluting and commending South Precinct Police Officer Dale Tomlin for his act of selfless heroism in the face of great danger.
Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a printed scroll to be presented to South Precinct Police Officer Dale Tomlin.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
