SUBSTITUTE RESOLUTION NO. RS2004-413

A resolution requesting the Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation to construct a park in Southeastern Davidson County.

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation currently maintains 102 parks within Davidson County; and

WHEREAS, the parks and greenways maintained by the Board of Parks and Recreation consist of approximately 10,200 acres available for recreational uses by citizens of Nashville and Davidson County; and

WHEREAS, despite the large number of parks that serve the citizens of Nashville, there is currently no park serving a particular area in Southeastern Davidson County comprised of the 28th, 29th, 32nd and 33rd Council Districts; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that a new park be constructed in Southeastern Davidson County to serve the citizens of the 28th, 29th, 32nd and 33rd Council Districts.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation to construct a park in Southeastern Davidson County.

Section 2. That the Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this Resolution to Roy Wilson, the Director of Parks, and to each member of the Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation.

Section 3. The Metropolitan Board of Parks and Recreation is further requested to respond to the Council within sixty (60) days from the date of the adoption of this resolution as to the action taken and/or feasibility of the request stated in Section 1 hereof.

Section 4. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
