RESOLUTION NO. RS2004-387

A resolution recognizing the Tennessee Minority Supplier Development Council.

WHEREAS, on August 18-19, 2004, the Tennessee Minority Supplier Development Council will host the 2004 Marketplace of Opportunities Conference at the Nashville Convention Center; and

WHEREAS, this annual conference links minority businesses with major organizations including corporations, government, educational and financial institutions, and business resource agencies; and

WHEREAS, this conference helps with networking contacts which lead to contracts among small and large businesses, and provides a gateway to successful business opportunities for both minority and majority businesses to discuss mutual needs and capabilities; and

WHEREAS, this years featured speakers will be Pamela L. Carter, Vice President, Global Filtration Business, Fleetguard, Inc., and George C. Frazier, Motivational Speaker & Author; and

WHEREAS, the Tennessee Minority Supplier Development Council has made a name for themselves as innovators in serving minority-owned businesses and major corporate purchasers; and

WHEREAS, through their hard work and dedication Tennessee Minority Supplier Development Council, has established and molded into a company that develops, promotes and expands business opportunities between minority-owned businesses and major corporate purchasers; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes the Tennessee Minority Supplier Development Council for holding the 2004 Marketplace of Opportunities Conference, and salute their commitment to excellence and extend to them wishes for future success.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the Tennessee Minority Supplier Development Council.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Cheri Henderson on behalf of the Tennessee Minority Supplier Development Council, Featured Speaker Pamela L. Carter and Featured Speaker George C. Frazier.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
