RESOLUTION NO. RS2004-385
A resolution recognizing Vulcan Materials Company as being named among Fortune Magazine’s “America’s Most Admired Companies”.
WHEREAS, Vulcan Materials Company has been named as one of Fortune Magazine’s “America’s Most Admired Companies”; and
WHEREAS, Vulcan Materials was ranked first in the “Building Material, Glass” category; and
WHEREAS, eight criteria were used to rank companies, and Vulcan was rated number one in all eight categories for its industry and is among the top ten companies out of all Fortune 1000 companies in both financial soundness and social responsibility; and
WHEREAS, Vulcan Materials Company is the nation’s foremost producer of construction aggregates, a major producer of other construction materials, and a leading chemicals manufacturer; and
WHEREAS, the Vulcan Materials Company makes enormous contributions to our economy and provides our society and the world with high-quality industrial materials; and
WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes Vulcan Materials.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing Vulcan Materials Company as being named among Fortune Magazine’s “America’s Most Admired Companies”.
Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Michael R. Mills, Vice President & General Manger of the West Region – Mid South Division on behalf of the Vulcan Materials Company.
Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
