RESOLUTION NO. RS2004-384

A resolution recognizing the members of the Donelson Senior Center upon winning first place in the 2004 Older American Month National Photography Contest.

WHEREAS, Bob Churchwells’ photograph of members of the Donelson Red Hat Honeys posing on motorcycles was chosen the first-place award in the 2004 Older Americans Month National Photography Contest, sponsored by the U.S. Administration on Aging; and

WHEREAS, the theme for this year’s contest was “Aging Well, Living Well” a fitting motto for the members of the Donelson Senior Center; and

WHEREAS, the Donelson Red Hat Honeys, known for wearing their distinctive attire of red hats and purple dresses, have made many contributions to the Nashville community, sponsored a variety of worthy causes and collected items for children in foster care, and art supplies for schools; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Churchwell’s photograph captures the enthusiasm that these ladies show about aging with grace; and

WHEREAS, the members of the Donelson Senior Center, especially the Red Hat Honeys, are setting an example of what it means to live and age gracefully, and should be recognized; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Metropolitan Council recognizes and congratulates the Donelson Senior Center upon winning such a distinguished honor.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. The Metropolitan Council hereby goes on record as recognizing the members of the Donelson Senior Center upon winning first place in the 2004 Older American Month National Photography Contest.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Council Office is directed to prepare a copy of this Resolution to be presented to Director Jane Schnelle on behalf of the Donelson Senior Center.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
