A resolution approving a grant from the U.S. Department of Justice to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, for purchase of bulletproof vests for the use and benefit of the Davidson County Sheriff’s Department and the Metropolitan Police Department.

Whereas, the U.S. Department of Justice has awarded a paperless, electronic grant in an amount not to exceed One Thousand Four Hundred Twenty-Two Dollars and Thirty-Three Cents ($1,422.33) to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County for purchase of bulletproof vests for the use and benefit of the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office and the Metropolitan Police Department; and,

Whereas, it is to the benefit of the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant be accepted.

Now, therefore, be it enacted by the Council of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County:

Section 1. That the paperless, electronic grant between the U.S. Department of Justice and The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, for purchase of bulletproof vests for the use and benefit of the Metropolitan Police Department, in an amount not to exceed One Thousand Four Hundred Twenty-Two Dollars and Thirty-Three Cents ($1,422.33), a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved, and the Metropolitan Mayor is authorized to execute the same.

Section 2. That the amount of this Grant be appropriated in amount not to exceed $284.47 to the Sheriff’s Department in the budget for fiscal year 2004/2005, and in an amount not to exceed $1,137.86 to the Police Department in the budget for fiscal year 2004/2005, based on revenues to be received and any match to be applied.

Section 3. That One Thousand Four Hundred Eighty Dollars and Thirty-Three Cents ($1,480.33) be provided for the Metropolitan Government’s matching funds for the grant.

Section 4. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
