RESOLUTION NO. RS2004-343

A resolution requesting the Metropolitan Health Department and the Department of Information Technology Services to broadcast information on a weekly basis on Metro Channel 3 regarding the streets to be sprayed for mosquitoes for the upcoming week.

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Health Department maintains a Mosquito Control Program, which consists in part of trucks that spray for mosquitoes at dusk and nighttime hours on designated days throughout each of the four zones of Davidson County; and

WHEREAS, the Metropolitan Health Department has established a system to give prior notification of mosquito spraying to members of the community; and

WHEREAS, a map indicating the four zones and spraying days, as well as a listing of the streets to be sprayed, is posted on the Health Department’s website; and

WHEREAS, broadcasting the particular streets to be sprayed on a weekly basis on Channel 3 would better inform the community as to when the Mosquito Control trucks will be in certain areas; and

WHEREAS, it is fitting and proper that the Health Department and the Department of Information Technology Services work together to have this information broadcasted on a weekly basis.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby goes on record as requesting the Metropolitan Health Department and the Department of Information Technology Services to broadcast information on a weekly basis on Metro Channel 3 regarding the streets to be sprayed for mosquitoes for the upcoming week.

Section 2. The Metropolitan Clerk is directed to send a certified copy of this resolution to Dr. Stephanie Bailey, the Director of Health, and to Richard McKinney, the Director of the Department of Information Technology Services.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
