A resolution accepting a grant from the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, Police Department, in an amount not to exceed $56,285.44, to purchase equipment to be used for law enforcement and investigation purposes.

WHEREAS, the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee has awarded a grant in an amount not to exceed Fifty-Six Thousand Two Hundred Eighty-Five Dollars and Forty-Four Cents ($56,285.44) to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Police Department, to purchase equipment to be used for law enforcement and investigation purposes; and,

WHEREAS, it is to benefit the citizens of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County that this grant be accepted.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the grant by and between the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee in an amount not to exceed Fifty-Six Thousand Two Hundred Eighty-Five Dollars and Forty-Four Cents ($56,285.44) to The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County, acting by and through the Police Department, to purchase equipment to be used for law enforcement and investigation purposes, a copy of which grant is attached hereto and incorporated herein, is hereby approved.

Section 2. That the amount of this grant for fiscal year 2003/2004, Fifty-Six Thousand Two Hundred Eighty-Five Dollars and Forty-Four Cents ($56,285.44) be appropriated to the Police Department in that fiscal year’s budget, based on the revenues estimated to be received and any match to be applied.

Section 4. That this resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
