RESOLUTION NO. RS2004-321
A resolution requesting the Mayor's Office and the Department of Public Works to determine if is it feasible and appropriate to place American Flags on the light posts that line the Victory Memorial Bridge.
Whereas, we, as a Country, State, and City owe a debt of gratitude to our veterans, our men and women that serve our country both overseas and at home, our fire and police departments who protect our safety and our homes and businesses, and any and all of the people who, either for pay or as volunteers, serve to protect our citizens everyday; and
Whereas, since the tragedy of September 11, 2001, this country has found a new inner strength where Americans have come to understand that together we must stand; and
Whereas, it seems appropriate that we should salute our protectors and our country everyday with a solid show of support that stands out and makes it clear that, although we may differ on issues, we stand behind the people that serve to protect our freedoms.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:
