RESOLUTION NO. RS2004-298

A resolution appointing the members to the Ethics Review Task Force, and amending Resolution No. RS2003-113 to extend the deadline of the Task Force’s report to the Council to September 30, 2004.

WHEREAS, Resolution No. RS2003-113, adopted on February 3, 2004, established an Ethics Review Task Force to review the Code of Ethical Conduct contained in the Metropolitan Code of Laws and to make recommendations to the Council regarding necessary changes to the Code of Ethical Conduct; and

WHEREAS, Resolution No. RS2003-113 provided that the Executive Committee of the Council is to recommend eight members of the Task Force, which members are to be appointed by a majority vote of the Council; and

WHEREAS, the Executive Committee of the Council has recommended eight members to be appointed to the Ethics Review Task Force; and

WHEREAS, the Council desires to appoint these members recommended by the Executive Committee of the Council, as provided in Resolution No. RS2003-113.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE METROPOLITAN GOVERNMENT OF NASHVILLE AND DAVIDSON COUNTY:

Section 1. That the Metropolitan County Council hereby appoints the following members to the Ethics Review Task Force:

a. Two former Davidson County elected officials: Earl Campbell and
Mansfield Douglas
b. Representative of the Nashville Bar Association: John L. Chambers
c. Representative of the Napier-Looby Bar Association: Allegra C. Montgomery
d. Two individuals trained in the study of contemporary ethics representing institutes of higher learning: Prof. Erin O’Hara of Vanderbilt University School of Law and Prof. John Monmarquet of Tennessee State University
e. Corporate Ethicist: Kate Payne
f. Certified Public Accountant: Bruce Sullivan

Section 2. That Resolution No. RS2003-113 be and the same is hereby amended by amending Section 4 by deleting the date “June 30, 2004”, and substituting in lieu thereof the date “September 30, 2004”.

Section 3. This Resolution shall take effect from and after its adoption, the welfare of The Metropolitan Government of Nashville and Davidson County requiring it.
